International Day of Happiness, 20th March 2015 observed at Rangsit University
Rangsit university in collaboration with UN organisations in Bangkok, International Research Associates for Happy Societies (IRAH) and Royal Bhutanese Embassy, Bangkok organised one day International Forum on “Sustainable Development and Sustainanble Happiness”. The forum was organized to observe the International Day of Happiness and to initiate a discourse on how happiness can be adapted in Sustainable Development Goals. Leading RGoB’s delegation to the Third United Nations World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (14-18 March, Sendai), Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs during the Plenary session (16 March) highlighted the vulnerabilities, priorities, achievements, and the challenges faced by Bhutan in the field of disaster risk reduction. Lyonpo reiterated that disasters, exacerbated by climate change, significantly impede progress of the developing countries, towards sustainable development and poverty reduction. He also encouraged greater commitment from the international community towards the implementation of the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction by strengthening the means of implementation with sustainable, adequate and predictable provision of finance, technology transfer and capacity building.Read More
