Acceptance of Applications for ITEC Program

The Ministry would like to inform that GoI has now started accepting applications for those courses scheduled from January 2015 under ITEC Program.

Therefore, the interested applicants are invited to apply for the same. The applications may be directly submitted to the Desk Officer, Asia & the Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thimphu routed through the respective agencies.

Joint Press Release on Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement between Bhutan and Switzerland

Thimphu, 8 October 2014 – A mutual visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports was signed today by Foreign Secretary Yeshey Dorji and H.E. Linus von Castelmur, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bhutan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gyalyong Tshokhang. The waiver of the visa requirement for officials and diplomats is an expression of trust and solidarity between the two countries and of the desire to further strengthen friendly relations. This arrangement will greatly facilitate official travel between the two countries and strengthen contacts and cooperation. Holders of official and diplomatic passports are permitted to stay for a period of up to 90 days without visa. Read more

On the occasion of the 201-4 UN Treaty Event, Bhutan deposited its lnstrument of Accession for the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards on 25th September 2014. photoBhutan’s instruments of accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization   of   Customs   Procedures   (Revised   Kyoto   Convention) was on   Monday 15th September  2014 deposited at the World Customs Organisation (WCO) headquarters  in Brussels, Belgium by the Bhutanese Ambassador Mr. SonamTshong.  He thanked  the  WCO for its generous support  to the development of the customs sector in Bhutan and said that the  Royal Government valued  its cooperative  relation  with  the  WCO.
