Press Release on the signing of the Exchange of Notes for the Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers 2013 (KR2-2013)

img_0730Ambassador V. Namgyel of Bhutan signed the Exchange of Note for the Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers 2013 (KR2-2013) with Ambassador Takeshi Yagi of Japan on 16 April 2014.

The Government of Japan has agreed today to extend a grant assistance of 110 million yen (approximately 1.1 million US dollars) to the Royal Government of Bhutan for farm mechanization to improve agricultural produce in Bhutan. Till date Bhutan has received nine underprivileged famers (KR II) grants which have been used to finance two wheel tractors to the farmers throughout the country and the target crops are rice, maize and wheat. Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal who has been appointed as the Consul General, Royal Bhutan Consulate, Kolkata, formally joined office on 9th April 2014 coinciding with the 10th Day of the 2nd month of the Wood Male Year in the Buddhist calendar.

The affirmation of appointment was through the Royal Kasho dated 3rd January, 2014. H.E. Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal is the second Consul General of Bhutan. The Royal Bhutan Consulate, Kolkata was established in 2009 with consular jurisdiction over the Indian States of West Bengal and Assam.

Permanent Mission Of Bhutan To The United Nations, New York, Hosts Reception On International Day Of Happiness

The Permanent Mission of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York hosted a reception on the evening of 20 March 2014 to celebrate the International Day of Happiness. Over 200 guests – representing the diplomatic community from the Missions of Member States, staff of the Secretariat and other agencies of the United Nations, friends of Bhutan from the NGOs and Bhutanese nationals working in various organizations in New York attended.

1.       The Hon’ble Prime Minister and delegation arrived in Paro on 06 March 2014 following the conclusion of the Third BIMSTEC Summit on 04 March 2014. At the Summit the leaders from the seven BIMSTEC countries reviewed the progress made and agreed to further intensify and deepen cooperation in all areas of activities within the framework of BIMSTEC, including strengthening institutional mechanism. The Leaders also called for the early finalization of the Framework Agreement on the BIMSTEC Free Trade Area preferably by the end of 2014.

Promotion Notification

The AFD would like to notify all the Missions, Embassies and Consulate abroad and the Departments and Divisions of this Ministry to submit Promotion Proposals for July 2014 to the HR Section on or before 30th April 2014.

The officials concerned shall be fully responsible to process their Security Clearance, Audit Clearance and Performance Evaluation Forms in consultation with the HR Section.

Further, the AFD shall not accept incomplete or late promotion proposals.

The promotion proposal must be submitted strictly in line with the Promotion Rules and Regulations, BCSR-2012.
