Brief Report on the Celebration of the 59th Birth Anniversary of His
Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo as a GNH Day on 11 November 2014 by
the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok.

dsc_0036In the morning the day’s Celebration began at 0900 hrs at the Embassy with the National Flag Hoisting, Release (Tsethar of 108 birds) and Tshedrup prayers for the long life and well being of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and cultural programme by the Embassy officials & staff and Bhutanese Students in Bangkok from various Universities.In the afternoon a Seminar on GNH and brief cultural programme and Reception was held at the Rangsit University. The Seminar was organized in collaboration with the Rangsit University attended by Rangsit University Senior Faculty members, Asian Institute of Technology Faculty members, Ambassadors & members of the diplomatic corps, Thai Foreign Ministry officials, Bhutanese community & students, members of the Thailand Bhutan Friendship Society, and from the print & TV media. The Event was well attended.

An abridged documentary titled ‘A King in the service of his people’ of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck was also screened that was very well received by the august gathering and well wishers.

Mrs. Kamolinee Sukriwong, Director of Royal Development Project Board also gave a talk on the Sufficiency Economy.

Kutsab presented the Seminar paper on Gross National Happiness (GNH) followed by a lively discussion and Q & A session.

Thai & Bhutanese cultural dance items were presented by Thai students of Rangsit University & Bhutanese students in Bangkok.

The programme concluded with a festive Reception and cutting of the Cake and raising the toast to the Long Life of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and His Majesty the King of Thailand and GNH Day.
