Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay will make an official visit to Bangladesh from 6 to 8 December 2014 at the invitation of H.E. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Lyonchhen will be accompanied by Lyonpo Rinzin Dorji, Foreign Minister, Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk, Minister for Economic Affairs and other senior officials of the Royal Government. A business delegation will also accompany Lyonchhen.

During the visit, Lyonchhen will pay a courtesy call on the President of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid. He will meet with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and hold wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations and other issues of common interest. Lyonchhen will also meet with several other senior leaders including the Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, Commerce Minister and Health Minister.

One important outcome of the visit will be the renewal for a further ten-year period of the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the two countries. The Agreement will provide greater impetus to the existing trade and commercial relations between Bhutan and Bangladesh.

This is Lyonchhen’s first visit to Bangladesh after assuming office in July 2013.The visit will further strengthen the close ties of friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and Bangladesh.
