237a2e5d-a7a3-4eaa-ae3e-5e1e2fadbcb7The new UNICEF Representative to Bhutan Mr. Rudolf Schwenk presented his credentials to the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, at a ceremony conducted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gyalyong Tshogkhang on 4 August 2016.

Mr. Schwenk holds a Masters Degree in Modern Middle East, Political Science and History, Berlin University, Germany. He has been part of the UN Systems since 1995 and has been assigned to work in Jordan and India. Most recently, Mr. Schwenk has been serving as the Chief of Procurement Services for UNICEF in Denmark.

Mr. Schwenk is a German national. He succeeds Ms. Shaheen Nilofer. UNICEF Country Office in Thimphu was established on 17th March 1994. UNICEF in Bhutan focuses on the areas of health and education.
