Hon’ble Lyonchhen will visit Thailand from 8-10 October, Australia from 11-14 October and India from 15 to 17 October 2016.

In Thailand, Hon’ble Lyonchhen will meet with H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and attend the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Bangkok on 10th October 2016. Hon’ble Lyonchhen will travel to Brisbane, Australia on the evening of 10th October 2016.

In Australia, Hon’ble Lyonchhen’s itinerary includes participation in the World Water Congress where Hon’ble Lyonchhen will deliver its keynote address on 11th October 2016 in Brisbane, meetings with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Speaker of the House of Representative Mr. Tony Smith and Trade and Investment Minister Mr. Steven Ciabo on 12th-13th October 2016 in Canberra. On 13th October, Hon’ble Lyonchhen will travel to Sydney and meet with Premier of New South Wales Mr. Mike Baird. The visit is significant in that it is the first visit to Australia by Prime Minister of Bhutan after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2002. The visit is expected to further enhance the existing close ties of friendship between Bhutan and Australia.

Hon’ble Lyonchhen will arrive New Delhi, India from Sydney, Australia on 14th October 2016 and travel to Goa on 15th October 2016 to attend the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit. As the Chair of BRICS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited the Leaders of BIMSTEC countries to an outreach summit with Leaders of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) the 8th BRICS Summit in Goa. Hon’ble Lyonchhen is expected to meet with the Leaders of BIMSTEC Countries on the sidelines of the Summit.

Hon’ble Lyonchhen will return to Bhutan on 17th October 2016.
