At the invitation of Foreign Minister Damcho Dorji, H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore will be visiting Bhutan from 14-17 May 2017. The Foreign Minister will be accompanied by Ambassador of Singapore to Bhutan and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister will call on Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Foreign Minister Damcho Dorji and other cabinet ministers and senior officials in the Royal Government. The Foreign Minister will also visit places of historical and cultural interest in Bhutan, including Taktshang in Paro, during the three day visit.

A  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources and ITE Education Services Singapore on Collaboration in the Field of  Technical and Vocational Education and Training will be signed during the visit. The Foreign Minister will also donate books to the National Library & Archives of Bhutan while in Thimphu.

The visit by the Foreign Minister will greatly contribute towards further strengthening of the close ties of friendship, cooperation and understanding between the leaders and peoples of the two countries. The visit will also provide an opportunity to explore more avenues for collaboration between the two countries. This is the first visit to Bhutan by a Foreign Minister from Singapore.

Diplomatic relation between Bhutan and Singapore was established in September 2002.
