The Sixth Annual Consultation between the Royal Government of Bhutan and Government of Japan took place on 3 September 2011, in Thimphu, Bhutan. The Bhutanese Delegation was led by Mr. Thinley Penjor, Director, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Japanese Delegation was led by Mr. Shuichi Tokuda, Director, Country Assistant Planning Division II, International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan.

During the Consultation the two sides expressed satisfaction over the progress of the past development assistance and discussed issues on the key potential projects for consideration of Japanese assistance in the coming years. The Bhutanese delegation expressed the Royal Government’s deep appreciation to the people and Government of Japan for the strengthened and continued assistance.

The two sides were happy to note that the highlighted areas of need are in line with the policies and priorities of both the governments.

The consultation was held in a most candid and friendly environment in keeping with the spirit of long standing friendly relations between the two countries.
