On the occasion of the 201-4 UN Treaty Event, Bhutan deposited its lnstrument of Accession for the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards on 25th September 2014. BHUTAN ACCEDES TO REVISED KYOTO CONVENTION AND HARMONIZED SYSTEM CONVENTION
Bhutan’s instruments of accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention) was on Monday 15th September 2014 deposited at the World Customs Organisation (WCO) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium by the Bhutanese Ambassador Mr. SonamTshong. He thanked the WCO for its generous support to the development of the customs sector in Bhutan and said that the Royal Government valued its cooperative relation with the WCO. Mr. KunioMikuriya Secretary General expressing his appreciation said that deposition of the Instrument was a clear affirmation of the commitment of Bhutan to the international customs regime.Read More

Bhutan to start participating in UN Peacekeeping Missions
As a long standing and responsible member of the United Nations, the Royal Government of Bhutan attaches high importance to the principles and purposes enshrined in the UN Charter. Bhutan has always worked constructively with other member states to realize the noble objectives of the UN since its membership in 1971. Among others, Bhutan remains fully committed to the maintenance of international peace and security, which is one of the key mandate and objectives of the UN. Towards this end the Royal Government has taken a decision to participate in UN Peacekeeping missions. Read more
On 15th September 2014, Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal, Consul General of Bhutan called on Shri Janaki Ballav Patnaik, Governor of Assam at Raj Bhavan and Shri Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam at his residence.
Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty the King and the Prime Minister to the Hon’ble Governor and Chief Minister and through them to the people of Assam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform the general public that the French Embassy in New Delhi has notified the Ministry about change in consular jurisdiction. Hereafter, the French Consulate in Kolkata will handle all the consular matters pertaining to Bhutan including processing of French visas. Therefore, the Ministry would like to request all the Bhutanese citizens holding ordinary passports to process the French visa through the French Consulate in Kolkata.
