Botschafter des Königreiches Bhutan, Kinga SingyeAmbassador Kinga Singye presented his credentials to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer, on 24th May 2016 accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bhutan to Austria with residence in Geneva. He conveyed to the President the warm greetings and good wishes of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. He expressed appreciation for the generous development assistance that Austria provides to Bhutan. He also expressed his commitment to further deepen the existing close ties of friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and Austria.   Read more

Bhutan joined 174 countries to become a signatory to the Paris Agreement for Climate Change.

unnamedThe signing was done at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 22nd April 2016 during the High-Level Signing Ceremony on the Paris Agreement for Climate Change convened by the UN Secretary-General. Ambassador Kunzang C. Namgyel, Bhutan Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York signed the Paris Agreement on behalf of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

In all, 175 nations signed the Paris Agreement, making the signing ceremony the largest number of countries ever to sign a multilateral agreement on the day it opened for signature. Read more

20160414-907A9072 20160414-GJ1_8569The visit to Bhutan by Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of the United Kingdom, which took place at the invitation of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, King of Bhutan concluded today.

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck hosted an archery match and other traditional sports, which the Duke and Duchess participated in. Their Royal Highnesses interacted with students from Ability Bhutan Society and the Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for Special Children and Youth. Read more
