The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Dhaka celebrated the 1o8th National Day on 17 December 2015 at the Embassy premises with the Bhutanese community including Medical Students, doctors undergoing post graduate studies and Bhutanese working in International and Regional Organizations in Dhaka.
The day was marked with the hoisting of the National Flag, lighting of butter lamp, and cutting of cake followed by screening of His Majesty’s address on BBS TV. Read more

The Royal Civil Service Award for the year 2015 was distributed to employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their dedicated service to the Tsawa Sum. Formal Ceremony was conducted where one life-time award, two gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals were awarded.
Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister for Agricultre and Forests and Mr. Miguel Arias Canete, EU Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy signed the Declaration European Union – Kingdom of Bhutan Cooperation on Climate Change” today in L”e Bourget, Paris on the sidelines of the UNFCCC COP21.
The Declaration takes cognizance of the need for a robust framework for transparency and accountability to enable effective processes for stocktaking as to whether Parties are collectively on track to achieve the long-term goal, and strengthening Parties’ emissions reduction targets. Read more
The Bhutanese delegation led by Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister for Agriculture and Forests is attending the United Nations Conference on Climate Change Conference of Parties 21 (COP 21) in Paris. The COP 21 is in the final week and will conclude on 11th December 2015.
Speaking at the High Level Segment of COP21/CMP11 to UNFCCC in Paris on December 7, 2015, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji urged the countries to speed up the negotiations to deliver an ambitious and legally binding agreement. Lyonpo highlighted Bhutan’s extreme vulnerability to effects of climate change on account of being land locked and its fragile mountain ecosystem. Lyonpo said that mountain states like Bhutan were more susceptible to increase in global temperature and called for the global community to set the global temperature increase target to 1.5 degrees as against 2 degrees being proposed by some of the countries, failing which it will have catastrophic impact on Bhutanese economy and people’s livelihood. The sixth biennial consultations between Bhutan and the European Union were held in Thimphu today.
During the consultations, the two delegations reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations between Bhutan and the EU, and discussed means to further strengthen the excellent cooperation between the two. Read more

of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan encourages proposals for a wide range of events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan. Organizers of events endorsed by the Ministry will be entitled to use the official name ”the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan” and the logo in all publicity materials including posters, pamphlets, websites, signboards, and banners.
