The Fifth bilateral meeting between the Royal Government of Bhutan and Government of Japan took place in New Delhi today on the 12th of August 2010. The Bhutanese delegation was led by Mr. Thinley Penjor, the Director of the Department of Bilateral Affairs. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. Keizo Takewaka, Minister (Economic and Development) from the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi. Read more
BHUTAN TO HOST FOURTH SAARC MINISTERIAL MEETING ON SECURITY RELATED MATTERS.
Participating in the Third Meeting of SAARC Ministers for Interior/Home in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 26th June 2010, Lyonpo Minjur Dorji assured fellow SAARC Home/Interior Ministers that “while Bhutan is privileged to enjoy a peaceful situation, we are by no means complacent, and recognize our existing vulnerabilities, largely arising from resource and infrastructure constraints.” Read more
Bhutan to participate in SAARC Home Ministers Meeting in Islamabad
The Royal Government will participate in the Third Meeting of SAARC Ministers for Interior/Home in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 26th June 2010. The Ministerial meeting, which will focus on regional efforts to combat terrorism and transnational crimes and intelligence sharing, will be preceded by meetings of Home Secretaries, Police Officials, Immigration Authorities, and Narcotics Control Officials. With regard to the reports by the Indian media that a Bhutanese student in Kodaikana Public School (Chennai) was molested by a faculty member, the Royal Bhutanese Embassy carried out an investigation on the case. The Embassy spoke to both the Principal of the school and the guardian of the student. Read more
PM meets leaders of SAARC, observer countries
Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley met with the Heads of State or Government from five SAARC countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan – who arrived in the Kingdom today to attend the 16th SAARC summit which commences tomorrow.
