The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Bhutan in New York <\/span>would like<\/span> to inform all Bhutanese nationals residing in or traveling to the <\/span>U<\/span>nited <\/span>S<\/span>tates of America<\/span> that the <\/span>US<\/span>Government has <\/span>issued a formal notification dated 28 May 2025 on <\/span>strengthened measures concerning border security and immigration enforcement<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Bhutan in New York would like to share that the <\/span>US<\/span> Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strict enforcement of immigration laws and the protection of its national borders<\/span> as outlined below<\/span>.<\/span> We urge all Bhutanese nationals to take note of the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1. <\/span>Prosecution for Illegal entry<\/span>:<\/span> Foreign nationals attempting to enter the United States without proper authorization will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

2. <\/span>Consequences for <\/span>o<\/span>verstaying or <\/span>v<\/span>iolating <\/span>l<\/span>aws<\/span>: Individuals who enter the <\/span>US<\/span> legally but overstay their authorized period of stay, or who violate <\/span>US<\/span> laws, may face arrest, significant fines, and\/or imprisonment. They may also be deported and subject to a permanent ban on re-entry to the <\/span>US<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

3. <\/span>Voluntary <\/span>d<\/span>eparture for <\/span>u<\/span>ndocumented <\/span>i<\/span>ndividuals<\/span>: Foreign nationals currently residing in the <\/span>US<\/span> without legal status are advised to depart immediately. Those seeking to take advantage of voluntary departure programs and available financial incentives are required to register through the CBP <\/span>Home App<\/span>, accessible at <\/span>www.dhs.gov\/cbphome<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

4. <\/span>Penalties for <\/span>f<\/span>acilitating <\/span>mass<\/span> imm<\/span>igration<\/span>: The <\/span>US will not tolerate those who facilitate illegal and mass immigration to the US. The US<\/span> Government has introduced new visa restrictions targeting foreign government officials and other individuals who facilitate or support illegal and large-scale migration to the <\/span>US<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

5. <\/span>Consequences for <\/span>n<\/span>on-<\/span>c<\/span>ooperation on <\/span>r<\/span>epatriation<\/span>: Governments that do not cooperate in the timely repatriation of their nationals may face serious diplomatic consequences, including broad restrictions on visa issuance and entry into the <\/span>US<\/span> for their citizens.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

The Consulate General strongly urges all Bhutanese nationals to comply with <\/span>US<\/span> immigration laws and to refrain from any actions that could result in arrest, prosecution, deportation, imprisonment, or fines. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
