{"id":235,"date":"2021-12-03T12:27:55","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T12:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.bt\/rbebangkok\/?page_id=235"},"modified":"2022-06-15T14:08:13","modified_gmt":"2022-06-15T14:08:13","slug":"consular-services-for-bhutanese-living-abroad","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.bt\/rbebangkok\/consular-services-for-bhutanese-living-abroad\/","title":{"rendered":"Consular Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Issuance of Emergency Passport:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the NewBorn, emergency passport with one month validity will be issued after submitting the following documents:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birth certificate from the hospital (English version)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Valid passport copies of both the parents.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent passport size photo of the child.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">THB 400 will be levied as a fee.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For lost\/stolen\/damage, emergency passport with one month validity will be issued; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the event that a passport is lost or stolen while abroad, you must immediately report to the police in that country and contact the nearest Bhutanese embassy. A copy of the police report must be submitted along with the application form.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the event that a passport is damaged, the damaged passport must be submitted along with the application form.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">THB 500 will be levied as a fee.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emergency passports are issued to facilitate the travel back to Bhutan. Therefore, emergency passports should be surrendered to the Mission and Consular Services Division, Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs upon reaching Bhutan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Attestation of Documents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicant shall:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apply for attestation of document with a duly-filled in Declaration Form. You can download the form <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Declaration-Form-for-Attestation-of-Document-1.pdf\"><b>here<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">submit two copies of the document to be attested, of which one shall be retained by the Consular Services at the Embassy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">produce original document for verification at the time of attestation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Documents:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Embassy shall attest document issued by:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">agency of the Royal Government of Bhutan;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">non-government agency in Bhutan;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">external institution in Bhutan; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The document issued by a non-government agency, external institution or individual shall, however, be attested only upon notarization from the Public Notary Office in Bhutan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Embassy will not attest the original and\/or laminated documents.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Issuance\/renewal of passports for Bhutanese residing abroad:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently the issuance of Passport\/Travel Document is centralized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thimphu. To apply for a passport, you can either apply online (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenservices.gov.bt\/\"><b><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">www.citizenservices.gov.bt<\/span>)<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or visit the Passport Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Changangkha.
