Kutshab Tshoki Choden presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany at Schloss Bellevue in Berlin on 30 May 2024, accrediting her as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Federal Republic of Germany.<\/div>\n

Kutshab Tshoki Choden conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King, the people and the Royal Government of Bhutan to the Federal President and to the German people. She conveyed the appreciation of the Royal Government for the generous support that Bhutan has received from Germany, bilaterally and multilaterally, in the past few decades.<\/div>\n

The Federal President welcomed Kutshab\u2019s appointment as the Ambassador of Bhutan to Germany and expressed the hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened.<\/div>\n

During the visit from 30-31 May, Kutshab Tshoki Choden met with various officials at the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. The two sides agreed to enhance the existing cooperation in climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity conservation and explore opportunities in tourism promotion and business partnerships.<\/div>\n

Formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Germany were established in November 2020. However, cooperation between the two countries dates back to the early 1970s.<\/div>\n

Kutshab Tshoki Choden is the resident Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Luxembourg.<\/div>\n
