{"id":1216,"date":"2022-02-14T11:36:05","date_gmt":"2022-02-14T11:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.bt\/rbecanberra\/?p=1216"},"modified":"2022-02-14T11:36:05","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T11:36:05","slug":"signing-of-mou-between-fid-and-austrac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.bt\/rbecanberra\/signing-of-mou-between-fid-and-austrac\/","title":{"rendered":"Signing of MoU between FID and AUSTRAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">On 8<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">th<\/span><\/span><\/sup><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 2022, H.E <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Mr.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Sonam Tobgay, Ambassador of Bhutan to Australia, on behalf of the Financial Intelligence Department (FID) of the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA), and Ms. Nicole Rose PSM, Chief Executive Officer of Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FID-RMA and AUSTRAC. The MoU will <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">allow the two countries to cooperate in the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">timely and unimpeded exchange of information <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">should the need arise for either parties <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to seek\/provide money laundering and terrorism financing related financial intelligence\/information in the future. The signing ceremony was conducted <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">remotely to observe COVID-19 protocols.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Till date, FID-RMA has signed similar MoUs with 12 foreign Financial Intelligence Units.
