The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok does not issue any visa or entry permit. Bhutanese visas are only issued by the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs in Bhutan. With the exception of visitors from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all other visitors to Bhutan require visas to be approved prior to the visit.
An Agreement on Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports was signed between Bhutan and Thailand during the BIMSTEC Summit on 30 July 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand. Thus, Official and diplomatic passport holders from Thailand do not require a visa for entry into Bhutan.
For other visitors, excluding nationals of India, Bangladesh and Maldives, visas are processed through an online system by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. You can find the list of tour operators at the website of the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB): http://www.tourism.gov.bt/plan/tour-operators
You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your visa. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account. Once received, the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours.
For Business and working visas: visas have to be processed by the organizer/counterpart in Bhutan.
At your point of entry, you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped on your passport.
