Hon’ble Foreign Minister Lyonpo (Dr.) Tandi Dorji’s Official Visit to Australia

The Hon’ble Foreign Minister of Bhutan, His Excellency Lyonpo (Dr.) Tandi Dorji was on an official visit to Australia from 10 to 16 September 2022 as part of the celebration to mark the 20^th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Australia on 14^th September 2022. The Minister visited Perth, Canberra and Sydney. 

During the week long visit, Lyonpo met a number of senior government officials, parliamentarians, university leaders and private individuals to discuss areas of mutual interest and benefit. He also interacted widely with Bhutanese communities in Perth and Canberra, and visited educational institutions and business establishment with Bhutanese presence.

On the 20^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on 14 September, Lyonpo was pleased to meet Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who reinforced Australia’s continued support to Bhutan and its development. Lyonpo reiterated Bhutan’s commitment to deepen the enduring ties of friendship between the two countries and highlighted key areas for future collaboration and cooperation.

This was the first visit by a Foreign Minister of Bhutan to Australia in 19 years.
