To commemorate the joyous occasion of the 116th National Day of Bhutan, Ambassador Vetsop Namgyel and Mrs. Daw Zam hosted a reception on 15th December 2023 at the Royal Bhutanese Embassy, New Delhi, with H.E. Shri V. Muraleedharan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, as the Chief Guest. The Reception was attended by officials from the Government of India, Ambassadors based in New Delhi and other members of the diplomatic corps, friends and well wishers of Bhutan and representatives of the International Organizations and private organizations based in Delhi. All the Guests at the reception offered felicitations to Bhutan on its 116th National Day.  

Guests at the event enjoyed traditional Bhutanese cuisine and were introduced to Bhutanese beverages, including Bhutanese rice brew ‘Ara’, and cultural performances by talented Bhutanese singers and musicians. During the reception, the Royal Bhutanese Embassy also launched and distributed its 20th edition of ‘Window on Bhutan 2023’. 

On 17th December, the officials and staff of the Embassy, family members, and Bhutanese community in New Delhi celebrated the joyous occasion of our 116th National Day with a flag hoisting ceremony and offering of butter lamps. The event was followed by singing of the National Anthem, marchang ceremony and offering of Zhabten for the long life of His Majesty The King.

The main highlight of the celebration of the auspicious occasion on the 17th December was the live telecast of His Majesty The King’s address to the Nation, which everyone gathered at the Embassy viewed together. The event concluded with a traditional cultural programme and Tashi labey followed by lunch.
