Consular Service for Bhutanese Living Abroad

Bhutanese citizens in Europe are encouraged to register themselves with the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels to enable the Embassy to reach out to them as and when needed and to extend consular services.

The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels issues Emergency Passport or Emergency Travel Document in the event of loss or damage of a Passport or Travel Document while travelling abroad and to newborn child up to one year of age, born to Bhutanese parents or to a Bhutanese legally married to a foreigner, in a foreign country. The Emergency Passport or Emergency Travel Document is intended only to facilitate the travel of the bearer back to Bhutan. Upon the bearer’s return to the country, the Emergency Passport or Emergency Travel Document shall be surrendered immediately to the Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An application for an emergency passport or travel document should be accompanied by a copy of police report, in case of loss, copy of citizenship identity card, copy of the lost passport if available and a fee of Nu. 1000.00 or its equivalent in EURO.
