- Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Foreign Affairs will lead the Bhutanese delegation to the first-ever World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) in Istanbul, Turkey from 23- 24 May 2016.
- The Summit is being convened by the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and co-hosted by the Government of Republic of Turkey.
- At the Summit, global leaders will discuss ways to effectively respond to major humanitarian challenges, and consider how to be better prepared to meet future challenges.
- As a least developed and landlocked country, Bhutan will highlight vulnerability to natural disasters and the effects of climate change. Bhutan as a global leader in environmental stewardship will reaffirm its commitment to remain carbon neutral.
- The Bhutanese delegation will comprise of officials from the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Gross National Happiness Commission and the Ministry of Foreign
