Attestation of documents

THE DEPARTMENT OF PROTOCOL and CONSULAR AFFAIRS WILL ATTEST DOCUMENTS AS FOLLOWS:

TIMING

  1. Documents shall be attested and returned to the applicant within one working day.
  2. Documents for the attestation may be submitted to the Consular Affairs Division between 9 AM to 1 PM on Monday(s) and Thursday(s).
  3. Applicants can collect the attested documents from the Division between 10 AM to 1 PM only on Tuesday(s) and Friday(s).

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicant shall:

  • apply for attestation of a document with a duly-filled in Declaration Form. Reason should be stated for attestation. The form can be downloaded here.
  • produce original document for verification at the time of attestation.
  • pay a fee of Nu. 300/applicant when submitting the application. Payment can be made at the payment counter of the Passport Office. 

DOCUMENTS

  1. The Ministry shall attest documents only upon notarization by the Public Notary Office.
  2. The Ministry shall not attest original and/or laminated documents.

  • Academic Marksheet.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Citizenship Identity Card.
  • Death Certificate.
  • Degree Certificate (within Bhutan).
  • Household Information.
  • Marital Status Certificate.
  • Marriage Certificate.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Merit Certificate.
  • Passport.
  • Relationship Certificate.
  • Security Clearance Certificate.
  • Tax Clearance Certificate
  1. Document issued by non-government agency
  • Bank Statement.
  • Merit Certificate.
  1.  Document issued by External Institution
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Degree Certificate. 
  1. Document issued by Individual
  • Letter of Authorization/Attorney.
