Official one-word Alternative for the Czech Republic
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform the general public that the Government of the Czech Republic has adopted the term “Czechia” as an official one-word alternative for the Czech Republic.
According to the notification received from the Czech Embassy in India, the country’s official designation “the Czech Republic” remains unchanged and the newly adopted term “Czechia” is not a substitute for it. However, both can be used interchangeably. The correct pronunciation of Czechia is “Chekia” and an adjective to both Czechia and the Czech Republic remains Czech.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to share this information with the general public at the request of the Government of the Czech Republic.
