img_2544 img_2543On 1st December 2016, Ambassador Pema Choden presented her Letter of Credence to H.E. Mr. Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland accrediting her as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Republic of Finland at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki.

Ambassador Choden conveyed greetings and warm wishes of His Majesty the King to the President  and  the  people  of  Finland  and  her  commitment to  further  deepen  friendship between the two countries. The President assured Ambassador Choden of his full support in further strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Bhutan and Finland.

While in Helsinki, Ambassador Pema Choden met with senior officials of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish Meteorological Institute and WWF Finland and discussed ways to further deepen the bilateral relationship between the two countries. She also met with the members of the Finland-Bhutan Friendship Society.

Formal Diplomatic Relations between Bhutan and the Republic of Finland were established in 1986. Ambassador Pema Choden is based in Brussels with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the European Union.
