img-20170402-wa0005Following participation at the first meeting of the 7th replenishment of the GEF trust fund on 29th March 2017 in Paris, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay arrived in Guwahati, Assam, this evening. En route to Guwahati, Lyonchhen visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok, Thailand, and paid his respects to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
On arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, Lyonchhen was received by Mr. Parimal Suklabaidya , Minister for PWD, Fisheries and Excise and other senior officials of the Government of Assam.
Later in the evening, His Excellency Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam, called on Lyonchhen at Taj Vivanta. Lyonchhen and the Chief Minister discussed wide ranging issues of mutual interest including strengthening of Assam-Bhutan relations.
Lyonchhen is in Guwahati as the Guest of Honour at the invitation of the Chief Minister of Assam to attend the Namami Brahmaputra, a river festival, being organized under the initiative of the Chief Minister.
Lyonchhen will arrive in Bhutan on 1st April 2017.
