H.E. Ms. Marie Chatardová, President of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is on a five-day visit to Bhutan from 17-21 February 2018. Ambassador Chatardová was elected as the 73rd President of ECOSOC on 27 July 2017. She is also the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York.

The President called on Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, the Hon’ble Finance Minister and senior officials of the Royal Government and discussed wide range of multilateral issues and Bhutan’s association with the United Nations and ECOSOC.

ECOSOC is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for coordinating the economic, social and related works of 15 UN specialized agencies, their functional commissions and five regional commissions. Established by the UN Charter in 1945, ECOSOC has 54 members.
