H.E. D.N Dhungyel                                                                                                                  Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade

His Excellency Lyonpo D. N. Dhungyel currently serves as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Royal Government of Bhutan. 

A distinguished member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Lyonpo represents the Phuentshogpelri–Samtse Constituency in the National Assembly of Bhutan.

Previously, Lyonpo held the position of Minister for Information and Communications from 2013 to 2018. 

Born in 1966, Lyonpo possesses an academic background that includes a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sherubtse College, Bhutan, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Institute of Management Studies & Research, India.

Prior to his foray into electoral politics in 2008, Lyonpo garnered extensive experience in the private sector. His professional career includes notable managerial roles at Bhutan Ferro Alloys Ltd. in Bhutan and Natural Resources PTE Ltd. in Singapore.

Lyonpo is married and has one son.
