H. E. Lyonchen Jigmi Y. Thinley, arrived in Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal on 28 June 2009. Upon arrival in Kolkata, Hon. Lyonchen was received by the Consul General of Bhutan in Kolkaata Dasho Tshering Wangda and officials from the State Government of West Bengal.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, H. E. Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee paid a courtesy call on Hon. Lyonchen on 29 June 2009 and they exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted a dinner in honour of Hon. Lyonchen on 29 June 2009. During the dinner, Hon. Lyonchen met with the leaders of the ICC and prominent businessmen of Kolkata. The dinner was preceded by a press conference which was attended by the journalists and reporters from the local media.
In Kolkata, Hon. Lyonchen also visited the Bhutan House at Dum Dum and met with the Officers ad Staff of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate and the Bhutanese community including students.
Hon. Lyonchen will leave for New Delhi on 30th June 2009.
