The Third Meeting of the BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs was held in Bangkok on 21 March 2019. National Security Chiefs from the BIMSTEC Member States namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand attended the Meeting. Mr. SonamTopgay, Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs led Bhutanese delegation to the Meeting.
The meetingassessed the progress of security cooperation among the member states till date and discussed way forward for future cooperation.The meeting also underscored the need to foster greater collaboration among BIMSTEC member states to work together in addressing the security challenges, both traditional and non-traditional, that our region faces today.
The Heads of Delegation also paid a courtesy call on General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
