img_1411The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok celebrated in a grand way the 107th National Day of Bhutan on 17 December 2015 with the Reception Party at the Hotel Sukothai attended by well over 400 guests from Royal Privy Council, senior officials of the Government and Ministries, local Thai & Provincial dignitaries, Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, heads and members from the international organizations, business community, Friends of Bhutan of Thailand-Bhutan Friendship and Siam Societies, hospitality & travel industry, Bhutanese students representatives and Media.

The National Day was celebrated with the official launching of the theme of Bhutan Visit Year 2015 in Bangkok to welcome the Thai, ASEAN and visitors from around the world to Bhutan coinciding the auspicious celebration on the eve of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck. Tourism Council of Bhutan, Druk Air, Bhutan Airlines and Army Welfare Project collaborated in organizing the launch and National day celebrations as in the past. The august gathering feasted on the exotic Bhutanese cuisine and beverages a la high quality variety Cultural programme show cased by the Bhutanese students in Bangkok.

Kutsab highlighted the many similarities between Bhutan and Thailand including the common spiritual heritage and the shared respect for the Institution of Monarchy. The National Day being celebrated to honour the 107th Anniversary of the glorious reign of the Wangchuck dynasty taking the country forward in an unprecedented path of peace, progress, modernity and development guided by the philosophy of the Gross National Happiness.  Also spoke of the special significance of the Bhutan Visit Year 2015 to welcome visitors from around the world coinciding with the 60th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the Fourth King of Bhutan. Bhutan’s excellent relations with Thailand and all other countries in the region were cited as an impetus to welcome everyone to visit Bhutan in 2015.

The Royal Bhutan Embassy and the Bhutanese Students Association in Bangkok celebrated the 107th National Day with the Bhutanese students and local Bhutanese community, Kutsab, Embassy officials, staff and family members with traditional Marchang, National Flag hoisting and prayer and butter lamp lighting ceremonies followed by cultural performances, games, luncheon and Tashi Lebey.
