The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok celebrated the 110th National Day of Bhutan on 17th December 2017 together with the Bhutanese students studying in Thailand. The celebration was marked by hoisting of the National Flag, singing the National Anthem, watching the live stream of the Royal Address to the Nation by His Majesty the King followed by cultural performances by the Bhutanese Students Association (BSA) in Thailand. A lunch was jointly organized by the Embassy and the Bhutanese students.

On the occasion Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to five local staff of the Embassy by the Ambassador in recognition of more than ten years of their dedicated services to the Embassy and the Royal Government. The Ambassador also awarded Tashi Khadhar to the newly elected executive members of the BSA.

The Royal Bhutanese Embassy also hosted a National Day reception on 19th December 2017 at the Anantara Siam Hotel. This was well attended by Ambassadors, diplomats, senior government officials, private sector, academia, international community and friends of Bhutan.

Speaking at the occasion Ambassador Tshewang C. Dorji conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the King. The Ambassador highlighted the significance of the National Day and how the nation comes together on this auspicious day to pay tribute to the visionary leadership of the successive Monarchs, who have tirelessly steered Bhutan towards socio-economic progress and prosperity guided by the philosophy of Gross National Happiness.

The Ambassador mentioned that over the years there has been significant progress in bilateral cooperation. Bhutan and Thailand must continue to explore new areas of collaboration and cooperation which is guided by both countries’ commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and by their respective development philosophies of Gross National Happiness and Sufficiency Economy.
The Ambassador also took the occasion to thank the Government and people of Thailand for all the support and cooperation that Bhutan has received over the years.
Rangsit University and Bhutanese Students presented cultural performances and music. The Embassy organized a raffle draw with the prizes sponsored by Druk Air, Bhutan Airlines, Tashi Beverages, AWP and Phya Thai Hospital. OGOP Products were exhibited on the occasion. The invitees all enjoyed the evenings where Bhutanese cuisine and drinks ere also served.
