With regard to the reports by the Indian media that a Bhutanese student in Kodaikana Public School (Chennai) was molested by a faculty member, the Royal Bhutanese Embassy carried out an investigation on the case.  The Embassy spoke to both the Principal of the school and the guardian of the student. H.E. Mr. Makhdoom Shah Qureshi, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, called on Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs on 26 April 2010.
Mr. Qureshi felicitated Bhutan for the recent transition to parliamentary democracy and said the voluntary embracement of parliamentary democracy was a landmark decision that brought respect from the international community for Bhutan’s leadership. Read more

The Foreign Minister of Maldives calls on Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs

H.E. Dr. Ahmeed Shaheed, Foreign Minister of Maldives, called on Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs on 26 April 2010.

Dr. Ahmeed Shaheed said that Climate Change was the most appropriate theme for the Summit and the SAARC member countries should form a strategic partnership to combat the negative effects of climate change. He mentioned that the President of Maldives was looking forward to discussing an Asian Climate Initiative. Read more
