Ambassador Daw Penjo presents credentials to President of the Republic of Austria

On 11th January 2013, Bhutan’s Ambassador to Austria and concurrently the Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations Office in Geneva, H.E. Mr. Daw Penjo presented his letter of credence to the President of the Republic of Austria H.E. Mr. Heinz Fischer, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bhutan to Austria.

During his visit, H.E. Mr. Daw Penjo met with officials from the Foreign Ministry of Austria namely the Secretary-General Ambassador Johannes Kyrle and the Head of the Department for Development Cooperation Ambassador Michael Linhart and held discussions on further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.  H.E. Mr. Daw Penjo is also scheduled to meet with the Managing-Director of the Austrian Development Agency Ambassador Brigitte Oppinger-Walchshofer.

In addition to presenting his credentials to Austria, H.E. Mr. Daw Penjo will be presenting his credentials to the Director General of UNIDO. The headquarters of UNIDO is located in Vienna.

Diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Austria was established in 1989. Austria is one of Bhutan’s important development partners providing assistance in the areas of energy, tourism, culture and governance.
