Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to Japan signed the Grant Contracts on ‘The Project for Construction of Hostels for Students at Dungna Lower Secondary School in Chukha Dzongkhag’ and ‘The Project for Supply of Fire Trucks in Lhuentse and Pemagatshel’ under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) with H.E. Mr. Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan on 22 March, 2013.

Under the Project for Construction of Hostels for Students at Dungna Lower Secondary School in Chukha Dzongkhag, the Government of Japan will provide a total assistance of USD 125,072 for the construction of 3 units of hostel. The hostels facility will benefit children   from six sub blocks of Dungna Block with 8 villages consisting of 115 households. The project will contribute towards achieving the goal of education for all as the hostel facility will enable children from the far flung villages to attend school.

Under the Project for Supply of Fire Trucks in Lhuentse and Pemagatshel, the Government of Japan will provide USD 21,306 for shipment of two fire trucks from Japan to Bhutan. This project will strengthen the fire fighting capacity at the two towns and also protect the important heritage structures from fire hazards in the Dzongkhags.

Ambassador V. Namgyel conveyed the deep appreciation of the government and people of Bhutan to the government and people of Japan for this grant assistance for grassroots human security. He said that the continued assistance from Japan demonstrate the deep friendship and steadfast support Japan has always extended to Bhutan.
