Mr. Tetsuo Uzu, Mayor of Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan, is visiting Bhutan with a 12-member delegation from 19-22 March 2013, in order to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Bhutan and Hamada city and through Hamada city with Japan. An agreement of cooperation will be signed between the Royal Government of Bhutan and Hamada City, Japan on 20th March 2013, coinciding with the International Day of Happiness. Foreign Secretary Yeshey Dorji will be signing the agreement on behalf of the Royal Government.  

Within the framework of this agreement, the City of Hamada will assist the Royal Government in the areas of traditional artwork, education, culture and promotion of industries. Some of the technical collaboration that  are under consideration by Hamada City for implementation soon after the signing of the Agreement include handmade paper project, middle school exchange students program and exhibition of  artwork.

The Mayor will also be meeting with the Secretary of Education and the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs to discuss areas of cooperation.
