Lyonchhen (Dr.) Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan, to visit India from 27-29 December 2018

At the invitation of His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, Lyonchhen (Dr.) Lotay Tshering will be on a three-day State visit to India from 27-29 December 2018. This is Lyonchhen’s first visit abroad after assuming his office. The visit coincides with the Golden Jubilee year of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India. Lyonchhen will be accompanied by Lyonpo (Dr.) Tandi Dorji, Foreign Minister and other senior officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan.

During the visit, Lyonchhen will call on President of India H.E. Mr. Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Modi. Several Indian Cabinet Ministers and senior officials are expected to call on Lyonchhen during the visit.

During the meetings with the Indian leaders, Lyonchhen will be conveying deep appreciation of the people and Royal Government of Bhutan for the generous assistance provided by the people and Government of India. Lyonchhen will be discussing various aspects of bilateral relations, including Bhutan’s 12th Five Year Plan and hydropower cooperation, particularly Mangdechhu tariff.

The visit is in keeping with the tradition of the regular exchange of high-level visits between Bhutan and India. Lyonchhen’s visit will further strengthen the already existing close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and provide an opportunity to review and expand future areas of cooperation.
