Presentation of Credentials by the United Nations Resident Coordinator

The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system’s operational activities for development in Bhutan, Mr. Gerald James Daly, presented his Credentials to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Lyonchhen (Dr.) Lotay Tshering at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang today.

The credentials ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Foreign Minister, heads of various UN resident offices in Thimphu, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Secretariat.

Mr. Daly is the first Resident Coordinator in Bhutan after the repositioning of the United Nations Development System (UNDS) which was adopted by the UN General Assembly Resolution 72/279 on 31 May 2018. Prior to this, Mr. Daly was the Resident Representative of UNDP and UN Resident Coordinator in Thimphu. He had also served as the WFP Country Director and Representative in Thimphu from February 2003 to June 2007.

Mr. Daly is from the Republic of Ireland. He holds a Masters of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Medford, Massachusetts, USA.
